Jos East transition committee chairman kidnapped, killed


Hosea Azi, a newly appointed transition committee chairman of Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, Saturday, was reportedly abducted and killed.

The late Mr. Azi was appointed the transition committee chairman of Jos East on Thursday, following the removal of his predecessor, Sanda Agwom, by Governor Simon Lalong.

Azi who reports say was kidnapped on Friday evening along Miango road, in Kufang, near former NYSC Secretariat in Jos South Local Government Area of the state, was said to have died alongside four of the six people who abducted him after the car he was whisked away in, got involved in an accident in Keffi, Nasarawa State, Premium Times reports.

Family sources, however, said two of the suspects, who suffered serious injuries in the accident, confessed to the crime while receiving treatment in an unnamed hospital in Keffi.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abuh Emmanuel, requested more time to gather information on the matter. The police are yet to confirm the incident.
