Jonathan to inaugurate National Dialogue committee on October 7


President Goodluck Jonathan will on October 7 inaugurate the Advisory Committee on National Dialogue.

The inauguration date was made public in a statement issued and signed on Friday in Abuja, by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Sam Nwaobasi.

The statement had disclosed that the inauguration ceremony will hold at the Council Chambers of the State House, Aso Villa, as from 10 a.m on the said date.

Even though there have been protests from different quarters that youth have not been represented in the committee, it has been reiterated by the government that Akilu Indabawa, a former PDP youth leader is the committee secretary.

However, others who will form part of the inauguration ceremony as committee members are; former Ambassador to the U.S., Prof. George Obiozor; Prof. Ben Nwabueze, former Senators Khairat Gwadabe and Timothy Adudu.

Others are Mr Tony Nyiam, a retired Colonel; Prof. Funke Adebayo, Mairo Amshi, Abubakar Sadiq, Buhari Bello, Tony Uranta and Dauda Birma.

The National Conference Committee which was announced by President Goodluck Jonathan on October 1st, in a nationwide broadcast commemorating Nigeria’s 53rd independence anniversary has been embraced by majority of Nigerians who believe Nigerians will be given the opportunity to air their views on national issues.

The committee is to devise the best possible ways to convey a successful conference that could further enhance the progress and unity of the country.
