President Goodluck Jonathan today suspended the inauguration of his presidential campaign committee.
The inauguration, which was billed to hold at 2:00pm today, was postponed following the death of his junior sister, Mrs. Nancy Jonathan-Obei.
Committee members, who had gathered at the Legacy House, the president’s campaign headquarters in Maitama waited until 3:00pm for the arrival of the president.
They were later told that the event will not hold by the Special Adviser to the president on Political Matters, Prof. Rufai Alkali who announced the suspension.
He said the postponement was in view of the death of the president’ sister.
Alkali also announced that the inauguration has been shifted to tomorrow 11pm.
The aide then called for a minute silence for the late Nancy.
Late Nancy died on Sunday at the age of 52 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State after she briefly fell ill.
