Kaduna State Governor, Malam, Nasir El-Rufai has disclosed how the past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan lavished Nigerian hard earned money on frivolous things.

The former FCT Minister noted that Jonathan’s government spent not less than N64 billion celebrating Nigeria’s independent anniversaries between 2011 and 2014.

The current regime of President Muhammadu Buhari, however, announced a budget of N70 million for this year’s anniversary, which took place on Thursday.

In a post on his Facebook page, El-Rufai gave the breakdown of the spendings on the independence anniversaries in the last five years as follows: 2011 – N13 billion 2012 – N15 billion 2013 – N14 billion 2014 – N22 billion 2015 – N70 million

Commenting on the development before giving the breakdown, El-Rufai said the change in spending on the anniversary was what Nigerians voted for by supporting the All Progressives Congress and Buhari.

He wrote: “Happy Independence Anniversary 🇳🇬NIGERIA🇳🇬 “THE APC-PMB CHANGE WE VOTED FOR…. Good morning and #‎GODBlessNIGERIA.”

His post sparked social media debate as many slammed him for singling out only Jonathan’s regime but excluded Obasanjo’s government where he served as a minister.
