Jonathan sacked National Assembly adviser over perceived links to New PDP

President Goodluck Jonathan might have fired his special adviser on National Assembly matters, Senator (Mrs.) Joy Emordi, over her alleged closeness to the Abubakar Baraje faction of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The termination of her appointment which was announced in a statement signed by Presidential Adviser on media and publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, has been described as shocking in some quarters.

Emordi was yesterday relieved of her job, alongside her counterpart in charge of NEPAD, Dr. Tunji Olagunju.

The presidency offered no reason for their ouster.

Sources say intelligence reports showed that Emordi was romancing with the splinter group, although it was not totally established if she was supporting the ‘New PDP’.

DailyPost gathered that some confidants of the president see Emordi as playing the role of a mole in the crisis that is rocking the PDP, especially within the National Assembly.

She was said to have been giving out Villa strategies to those seen as enemies of the president in the Federal Legislature.

DailyPost recalls that Baraje, governors loyal to him and other factional leaders had visited both chambers of the National Assembly earlier in the week, a development that greatly unsettled the presidency and the Bamanga Tukur’s faction.

He and members of his executive had called off a meeting with Aminu Tambuwal at the last meeting, due to the visit of the New PDP promoters.
