The developmental strides of President Goodluck Jonathan across the country, will earn him second term in office in 2015, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Chief Yunana Iliya, has said.
Iliya stated this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Nasarawa, the headquarters of Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
He said: “I want to tell the whole world that PDP government, since its inception in Nigeria, has done a lot in fighting corruption, poverty, hunger, unemployment.
“It has also pursued, with renewed vigour, youths and women restiveness as well as boosted the socio-economic development of the country.
“President Jonathan has also transformed the educational, agricultural, economic, health, judicial and commercial sectors, as well as the electoral system among others.
“His transformation agenda has touched and improved the lives of every Nigerian positively.
“Nigerians have seen his good handwork in establishing and equipping secondary and tertiary institutions, creating job opportunities, providing infrastructure facilities, tackling insecurity, prompt payment of workers’ salaries among others”.
Iliya, therefore, called on Nigerians not to be deceived by those criticising Jonathan’s administration without assessing his performances dispassionately.
He urged the electorate to vote for the President and other PDP candidates to ensure continuity in the provision of dividends of democracy.
According to him, PDP is the only party that will bring about more dividends of democracy to the people.
He advised Nigerians against politics of ethnicity and religion, and to be law-abiding in the interest of peace and national development.
The chairman cautioned politicians against “do or die” politics, saying they should rather engage in violent-free campaigns to ensure the successful conduct of the general elections.
Iliya enjoined the people of the state and Nigerians at large, to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation to enhance national growth and development. (NAN)
