President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday reassured that his administration will bring the Boko Haram insurgency to an end before the March 28 date of the presidential election as he stressed that the terrorist sect would soon become history in Nigeria.

President Jonathan, who gave the assurance yesterday at a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential rally in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, stated that the government and Nigerians were grateful to the Nigerian military for confronting the insurgents headlong.

According to him, “Let me tell you, by the grace of God, before March 28 presidential election, Boko Haram would be history. Every displaced person will return to their villages and towns by all means. As I am talking to you now, there is no Boko Haram in Yobe State.

“I also want to use the opportunity to pacify people of Yobe State to continue to tolerate one another. We should forgive and forget what has happened. Let us assist our security agencies in maintaining peace in our land,” he noted.

While sympathizing with victims of the insurgency, President Jonathan called on the Yobe electorate to vote massively for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the general elections.
