Jonathan launches last-minute onslaught on South East

As President Goodluck Jonathan gradually comes close to the end of his electioneering campaign for Saturday’s presidential election, he is expected to have a stopover in the commercial city of Aba, Abia State on Tuesday to inspect some power projects.

According to Governor Theodore Orji, who dropped the hint when he received the South East Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Archbishop David Eberechukwu, the president is expected to visit the Alaoji Independent Power Plant being built by the federal government as well as the Geometric Power Plant at Osisioma, a private power plant by former Minister of Power, Prof. Bart Nnaji. The President would also hold an interactive meeting with Abians at the Aba Sports Stadium.

Continuing, Orji disclosed that President Jonathan would also address a town hall meeting in Owerri, the Imo State capital later in the day.

Orji, who noted that his administration has always maintained a cordial relationship with CAN and churches in the state, said the decision of his administration to return some schools to the churches that originally owned them was in recognition of the important role of the church in the society.
