A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Mainland Constituency 2, Olanrewaju Oshun, has said that President Goodluck Jonathan has not been able to perform to expectation because he is surrounded by mediocre and sycophants, insisting that they are the people misleading him because of what they can get.

Oshun, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government Administration and Chieftaincy Affairs, noted that the President had daily hurt himself by appointing the wrong set of people to champion his course.

According to Oshun, Femi Fani-Kayode, the Spokesperson of the Jonathan Campaign Organisation is one of such people, giving President Jonathan’s bad name and misleading him.

Recalling how Fani-Kayode once told Nigerians why he left the PDP and later went back to the same PDP and now claiming that APC was not good, Osun said: “Fani-Kayode was the same person that said APC leaders were sponsoring Boko Haram. Now, he is the person coming out to absolve them. That tells you the kind of person he is.

“When you speak with both sides of your mouth, then no one should take you seriously. Our argument in the APC is that the Boko Haram remains the result of a badly run government filled with injustice and massive corruption.

“When you have the level of unemployment in Nigeria today and the unemployed continue to see some people flaunt this ill-gotten wealth in their faces, then you are pushing these unemployed people into something bad.

“We believe that government should be run with human face with the realisation that every Nigerian is a stakeholder in the Nigeria Project and must thus benefit from development, growth and progress of the country,” Oshun said.

The lawmaker described the PDP as synonymous with an unsellable product, adding that Jonathan had shown, with his method of campaign so far, that he does not mean well for the country and its people.
