Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, has stated that President Goodluck Jonathan is a very good product that is easily saleable.
He gave the assurance on Tuesday in Abuja at the inauguration of the party’s Presidential Campaign Organisation, ahead of the February general elections.
“PDP has a good candidate in the person of President Goodluck Jonathan to sale to Nigerians ahead of the elections.
“The product we have is a very good product and it is easily saleable”, the PDP national chairman said.
Mu’azu added that President Jonathan had given more to Nigerians and deserved to be re-elected because of his humility, simplicity and developmental strides in all sectors of the country`s economy.
Mu’azu however, warned the opposition to limit their electioneering campaign to issues that were important to Nigerians, adding that the PDP was tired of campaign of sentiments.
He said while the opposition kept promising Nigerians and engaging in campaign of calumny, the PDP was well ahead of it with proven verifiable achievements to showcase to the people.
Mu’azu emphasised the need to reward loyal party members across the country.
This he said, was critical to avoid defection of members to the opposition.
Earlier, Chief Tony Anenih, the Chairman, PDP Board of Trustee (BoT) and Presidential Campaign Organisation Adviser, charged Nigerians to join hands with the PDP to ensure a violent-free general elections.
“I call on Nigerians to join hands with us to crush all plans to cause pre or post election violence, bearing in mind the imperative of the unity and stability of our dear country.”
Anenih also urged members of the party to be steadfast in their commitments to campaign for the party with hope in their hearts.
The BoT chairman further charged the inaugurated team to campaign with facts and truth based on issues and ideas with verifiable records of the party`s achievements across the country.
This, he said, was critical to win the sacred mandate of Nigerians at the elections and to ensure that the PDP remained in power.
He urged the party’s campaign directors and coordinators across the country to be ready to reach out to all Nigerians in the course of their campaign with the party’s flag.
Anenih expressed optimism that having passed through the same terrain in 1999 and 2011, the PDP would emerge victorious in the general elections.
Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, who is the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, led other governors of the party to the event.
Akpabio assured that the governors were ready to ensure the victory of the PDP in their respective states, adding that in spite of the antics of the opposition, Nigerians still had confidence in the party.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to vote President Goodluck Jonathan and other PDP candidates at the elections to ensure the continuation of Federal Government’s transformation programmes.
The Senate President, Sen. David Mark, also expressed hope that the PDP would emerge victorious at the elections, adding that the opposition had nothing to market to Nigerians.
He urged members of the orgnaisation not to shy away from marketing President Jonathan to Nigerians in the course of their campaign.
NAN reports that while Sen. Amadu Ali is the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Organisation, Prof. Tunde Adeniran will serve as Deputy Director.
Mr Kabiru Turaki will serve as Deputy Director General (North), and former Anambra Governor, Mr Peter Obi, will be in charge of the South, among others.
Ali, who spoke on behalf of members of the campaign organisation, said that the PDP would not be intimidated by the blackmail of the opposition.
He stressed that President Jonathan was a democrat in all ramifications and that his candidacy would offer Nigerians positive transformation and sustainable democracy.
Ali assured that members of the organisation would work assiduously to ensure victory for all PDP candidates at all levels.
