Jonathan has been unfair to Ndigbo – South-East APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) South-East zone on Wednesday reiterated that the support Ndigbo have given President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has not been rewarded.

Spokesman of the party in the South-East zone, Osita Okechukwu, re-echoed this while addressing APC supporters at a road show in Awgu local government area of Enugu State.

Okechukwu asked President Goodluck Jonathan where Ndigbo got it wrong by voting for him massively in 2011 presidential election.

He maintained that Ndigbo deserved a better deal for supporting Jonathan in 2011 and not uncountable broken promises.

“I am asking this question when news filtered in of how thousands of dollars were doled out to traditional rulers, clergy and other eminent persons in the northern and south western parts of the country in the Jonathan Bazaar, while few thousands of Naira are doled out to their counterparts in Igbo land.

“Am yet to read a refuttal from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organization after major newspapers reported the Jonathan Bazaar, where some Obas and Emirs were reported receiving per piece $250,000.’

“Are Ndigbo wrong in putting all our eggs in one basket? Look at how Jonathan awarded multi- billion contract for the construction of Loko-Owete the Benue river bridge similar to the 2nd Niger Bridge. The Loko-Owete bridge is nearing completion while the 2nd Niger Bridge is under questionable toll bridge bond”, Okechukwu said.

He recalled that President Jonathan promised during the electioneering campiagn of 2011 promised to go on exile if the 2nd Niger Bridge was not completed by the end of his tenure in 2015.

“To compound matters, Gani Adams, the National Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress exposé confirmed the utter negligence or better stated lack of regard of Ndigbo by our dear president.

Quoting Adams, he said: “What I know is that President Jonathan gave us a contract to protect pipeline and the analysis of that pipeline contract is that Nigeria is losing N1.3 billion every year to vandals. And when you see how much they will pay us for a year in six zones – we have three zones in South West and three in South South. I have only one in South West, Dr Fasheun has one and another guy in Ondo has one. As a Nigerian we have a right to share from the commonwealth and that does not mean they have induced us.”

Okechukwu wondered if the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) was not entitled to share in the Jonathan Bazzar or the commonwealth and whether it got the pipeline protection or any contract, and yet, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, its leader, is embattled with his colleagues over alleged peanuts handed over to him.

He said from all indications Ndigbo’s uncommon and unflinching support for Jonathan and indeed for the PDP has not been fairly rewarded, as exemplified by uncountable broken promises.

Okechukwu recalled that Mr. President promised to revamp coal in the South-East but four years down the line, it has become a conduit pipe where billions budgeted annually for 3rd Seismic Survey to study for coal has been serially fleeced off without due process.

“What of the less than transparent bidding process where a company disqualified by the Technical Committee of the National Council on Privatisation was handed over Enugu Electric Distribution Company?”

“The question is can we still entrust our fate and destiny on President Jonathan?” Okechukwu queried.
