Jonathan fires DG of Nigerian Law School, six other deputy directors

President Jonathan late Thursday approved the sack of the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Tahir Mamman, and his six deputies.

The development which was least expected has put the nation’s law schools into a mid session crisis.

The six Nigerian law schools are located in Lagos, Enugu, Kano, Adamawa, Bayelsa and Abuja while a Deputy Director heads each.

No reasons were given for the dismissal but sources say the action was based on the recommendation of the Justice Minister, Mohammed Adoke.

Dailypost gathered that Mamman is to remain in office until a set of new directors take over from him and his deputies.

The ministry’s recommendation was based on claims that Mamman had spent five years in office, one year more than the legitimate duration.

By law, the D-G can stay a maximum of two terms, while Deputy Directors however have no term limit.
