Jonathan, Fayose, Wike will not be suspended from PDP – Sheriff

The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has denied speculations that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, is planning to suspend some of its bigwigs, including former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Sheriff, speaking through his deputy, Cairo Ojougboh, told Daily Trust that his administration would not condone indiscipline, but will work towards re-defining the party.

He also said he loved the party and did not wish that its members defect to other political parties.

“We are very particular about the interest of our party. We love the PDP and we are also aware that politics is a game of numbers.

“We shall not make the mistake of allowing people leave the party if we can help it but at the same time we shall not condone indiscipline. We have left the door open for all as we fight to re-position the party,” he said.

Over the weekend, Sheriff had stated Governors opposing him, especially Ayo Fayose of Ekiti and Nyesom Wike of Rivers, were free to leave the party.

Sheriff also said he would not collect “stolen money from the Governors”, adding that PDP would never defend any Governor when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) beam their searchlight after they leave office.
