President Goodluck Jonathan has commiserated with the Ijaw National Congress, INC, over the death of its leader,

Jonathan in a statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said he received the news of Sekibo’s death with sadness.
He described the late Sekibo as a man “who brought immense sagacity, maturity and years of political experience to his leadership of the INC following his election as its president last May, and will be greatly missed by the Ijaws and all lovers of peaceful co-existence and national unity”.
The statement reads in part, “On behalf of himself and the Federal Government, President Jonathan extends sincerest condolences to Chief Sekibo’s family, the people of his hometown, Okrika, the leadership of the INC and all Ijaw people.
“The President joins them in mourning the former senator who served with distinction in the upper chamber of the National Assembly between 1979 and 1983, doing his best, to defend the interests of his people while always upholding the unity and territorial integrity of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson yesterday cancelled all state engagements to mourn the sudden death of the President of the Ijaw socio-cultural group; Ijaw National Congress, (INC), Senator Tari Sekibo.
The INC President, Senator Tari Sekibo died of heart related ailment in Yenagoa on Monday, at the age of 77 years.
