Jonathan congratulates Super Eagles, urges them to “go for gold”

President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated the Super Eagles for qualifying for the quarter-final of the African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

A statement by his Media Adviser, Reuben Abati reads: “President Jonathan congratulates the Super Eagles on their well deserved victory in the match against Ethiopia today. He urges them to go for Gold.”

The national team secured a quarter final place after two penalty kicks by Chelsea player, Victor Moses saw the exit of their opponent, Ethiopia and the much expectant Zambia that played a goalless draw against Burkina Faso.

The Eagle are billed to face Cote D’Ivoire in a knock out match on Sunday.
