Jonathan called 19 days after abduction of Chibok girls – Gov Shettima

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State yesterday disclosed that the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan only called to enquire about the 200 Chibok school girls 19 days after their abduction.

Shettima made the revelation at the State’s Government House in Maiduguri , the state capital when former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, who is on a two days working visit to University of Maiduguri, paid him a courtesy visit.

Shettima said, “In our own case, Your Excellency, after the Chibok abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in April, 2014, it took 19 days for me to receive a call from the Presidency.

“I brought this mainly to show the difference, because we will only appreciate scenarios when we make comparisons.”

Shettima who was full of praise for Obasanjo said he was confident that the situation would have been better handled were the former President in power when the incident happened.

Members of the Boko Haram sect had in April 2014 abducted about 200 schoolgirls from their dormitory in Chibok, Borno State.
