Jonathan, Buhari hold transitional talks in Aso Rock

President Goodluck Jonathan, Friday held a closed-door meeting with the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.

The meeting was held at the new Banquet Hall inside the President’s office in Aso Rock.

The parley signals commencement of talks over transitional process ahead of the May 29 date for the transfer of power.

Jonathan had conceded defeat to Buhari in a telephone call prior to the latter’s official declaration as winner.

The president-elect will assume power on May 29, 2015.

He is the first opposition candidate to defeat a sitting president since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.

Buhari contested in 2003, 2007 and 2011 before his eventual triumph last weekend.
