Jonathan appoints Professor Monday Joshua as new NECO Registrar


President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of Prof. Monday Tommy Joshua as the new Registrar/Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council.

The appointment which takes effect from March 30, 2015 was sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the former Registrar/CEO, Prof. Promise Nwachukwu Okpala, who spent eight years in the Council.

The appointment letter dated April 2, 2015 was signed by the Secretary to the Federal Government, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.

Joshua, until his appointment, was a Professor of Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation in the Faculty of Education of the University of Calabar, Cross River State. He was born in Afaha Nsit II of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State.

Joshua attended Calabar Polytechnic, University of Nigeria Nsuka, Iowa State University of Science and Technology Ames, Iowa State, USA and University of Calabar and obtained NCE, B. Sc (Ed), M.Sc and Ph.D respectively.

Joshua was promoted to the rank of Professor in October 2006 by the University of Calabar.

He has been a regular monitor of NECO and JAMB administered examinations and a Consultant to many professional bodies with 100 publications featured in many national and international journals.

Joshua is married with four children.
