A new Comptroller General of Prisons, Dr. Peter Ezenwa Ekpendu has been appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Until his new appointment, Ekpendu was Deputy Controller General (Administration). A native of Ibeku, Okwuato in Mbaise Local Government area of Imo State, Ekpendu has served in various capacities in the Nigerian Prison Service as Deputy Commandant, Prisons Training College, Lagos, Officer-in-Charge of Umuahia, Officer in charge of Owerri Prisons, and Deputy Controller of Prisons Training, Prisons Headquarters 1999 among several other top postings.
A graduate of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Ekpendu, an alumni of the Prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategy Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, is a doctorate degree holder.
