The Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, yesterday condemned the growing wave of preaching of mystic doctrines by some unguided extremists, which it noted are completely contradictory to the principles of Islam.

Sounding this alarm in Kaduna at the end of its annual conference and pre-Ramadan lecture, the JNI further regretted that media houses that aired Tafsir lectures during Ramadan failed to censor statements capable of destabilizing the Muslim community.

Secretary General of the organisation, Dr. Khalid Aliyu, and Chairman, Local Organising Committee for the conference, Prof. Sambo Junaidu, raised these concerns in a statement, where they condemned, “In very strong terms the atheistic statements of one Abdul Inyass and call on all Muslims to rally round the Muslim leadership so as to safeguard the integrity of the religion against the onslaught of its enemies.

“The Ulama should utilize their respective Tafsir sessions in Ramadan to educate Muslims to be God fearing, emphasize the fundamental Islamic teachings, refrain from issues that can divide the Ummah and cause mutual mistrust as well as tension among Muslims and people of other faiths.

“Despite the progress recorded in terms of uniting the Ummah especially in the issue of moon sighting, some challenges still need to be resolved,” the statement added.
