Jilted lover bathes his ex-girlfriend with acid in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a job seeker identified as Paul Nwokobia for pouring acid on his 23-year-old ex-lover, Rosemary Nanaifa in Surulere area of the state.

DAILY POST gathered that Nwokobia and Nanaifa met in 2011 and had been courting until September 2014 when they separated. This led Nwokobia to be repeatedly sending the victim threat messages warning her to return to him.

While speaking from her hospital bed at the University of Lagos Teaching Hospital in Idi-Araba, area of the state, Nanaifa, whose head to waist was damaged by the acid, stated that the incident happened on June 3, 2015.

While commenting on her relationship with Nwokobia, the victim stressed that they were lovers for five years but she ended the affair in September last year because he had no stable job and was not honest in his attitude.

Narrating her ordeal, the victim affirmed: “I was at work one day when a private number called me around 4pm. The caller was a lady. She said she wanted me to bake cake for her. She said she would call back in the evening.”

Nanaifa added that the woman called her again suggesting they meet at Surulere, adding that she would be in a red car.

“I was wearing a red blouse too. When I got to the spot, I did not see any red car and she was not calling back. Suddenly, I noticed someone drew my hair from behind and suddenly poured acid on my face down to my waist,” she added.

The victim further noted that her scream for help got the attention of passers-by who rushed to the hospital where she is receiving medical treatment, adding that those who helped her also alerted her family.

Kenneth Nwosu, the state police spokesperson who confirmed the incident. He said the suspect was arrested alongside three others, adding that the case has been transferred to the state criminal investigations department for further investigation.
