The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate Alhaji Abubakar Badaru in Jigawa State on Monday said if voted into power, his main economic agenda will be the promotion of agriculture and other related industries.
The APC gubernatorial hopeful, who disclosed this in a chat with pressmen during his campaign tour of Kaugama Local Government Area of the state, stated that he had a comparative advantage in the area of agriculture.
“It is an open secret that Jigawa is an agrarian state blessed with diverse agricultural produce. The present economic crisis occasioned by the fall in oil prices has made it mandatory to look for other sources of revenue.
“Jigawa is the highest producer of sesame seeds in Nigeria. Places like Hadeijia and Auyo are renowned for rice production. We also produce tomatoes and onions in abundance. We have cattle and goats in large quantities in most parts of the state. My plan is to partner the private sector to establish industries that will add value to these primary products”, he added.
