Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Barrister Ibrahim Hadejia has spoken on report that the state government supported the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state with N50 million.

In the report making the rounds, Hadejia gave out N50 million to support INEC to facilitate the distribution of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) in the state.

Hadejia, however, denied the report on Thursday while speaking to journalists to mark ‘Jigawa at 27’ in Dutse.

The deputy governor said the state government had provided money to the local government councils to facilitate logistics and movements of eligible voters not INEC as reported.

“There was never a time that the state government gave money to INEC in whatever form. There was never a time that I told anybody or granted an interview to any journalist and said Jigawa State government had released money to support INEC.

“What I said was that we are doing our best, we actually funded the local government councils to provide logistic support to the citizens to go and collect their voters cards,” he said.
