Suspended member of the house of representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has apologized to President Muhammadu Buhari, after asking him to resign.
Jibrin made the demand one week ago, citing Buhari’s health condition.
Some days after, people from his constituency staged a protest to the APC headquarters in Kano, calling for him to be sanctioned.
But speaking in Kano on Friday, Jibrin said: “What I said was misconstrued and blown out of proportion.
“I, Jibrin Abdulmumini Kofa, a member representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency, is apologising to President Muhammadu Buhari, the party leadership, Kano state governor, Kano people and all Buhari supporters across the country.
“May Allah give him (Buhari) the strength to rule successfully. And May He give him good health and the country in general.”
However, Jibrin made it clear that his apology was not meant for the National Assembly leadership.
“I’m not apologising to people like Alhassan Ado Doguwa in the national assembly,” he said.
“No one in the hallowed chamber is fighting against corruption like I am.
“I was in the United Kingdom when people were protesting, but what I did was to rush down home in the next available flight. I want show them that I am still with my people. And they support me all the time”, he said.
