Oscar Cardozo has apologised to Benfica fans, for shoving manager Jorge Jesus after the Portuguese Cup final loss to Vitoria Guimaraes.
The defeat completed a hat-trick of failures in cup finals, after FC Porto beat them to the League title and Chelsea defeated them in the Europa League.
“I apologise to all Benfica fans and want you to know I have this club in my heart. It was a terrible and nerve wrecking end of season and I hope you never doubt my passion. I love Benfica,” the striker wrote on his Facebook page.
Jesus has revealed that the player apologised to him afterwards and says he has accepted it happened in the heat of the moment.
“Cardozo was hot-headed at that very complicated moment. He later apologised in the locker room,” he said.
