Thousands of Indonesian Muslims on Sunday protested in Jakarta against Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Protesters who were seen wearing white Islamic robes and skullcaps gathered outside the US embassy.
Some carried Palestinian flags and banners saying, “We are with the Palestinians” and “Pray for Palestine.”
The rally organised by Islamist Prosperous Justice Party in Indonesia’s capital drew a crowd of at least 5,000 people, Daily Mail reports.
According to the report, protesters described trumps move as unilateral and hostility to Muslims throughout the world.
Trump’s move on Wednesday to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital has been condemned internationally and sparked Palestinian protests and clashes with Israeli security forces.
