The Chairman, Plateau state chapter of United Progressive Party (UPP), Alhaji Isa Arzuka Jega has been affirmed as the governorship candidate of UPP in Plateau state.
Jega was affirmed by delegates through a voice vote during the party’s Congress at Yelwa Club in Jos on Monday.
Alhaji Jega was the founder of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Plateau state before he founded UPP in the state.
Daily Trust reports that Chairman of the primary in the state, Mr Philip Samchi moved a motion that the affirmation to be done through “voice vote” because Jega was the sole aspirant.
Another Chieftain of the party, Sadiq Masalla, seconded the motion for the voice vote.
The affirmation was carried out in the presence of officials from INEC.
In his reaction, Jega thanked the delegates and the leadership of the party for giving him the mandate to represent the party in the upcoming general election.
Alhaji Jega also promised to lead the party to victory and assured everyone that he would work towards restoring the lost glory of Plateau and making the state great again.
