Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is on the trail of cyber cafe operators and others who are bent on compromising the integrity of its examination.

“We will not stop war against these fraudsters until we achieve victory.

“We will stop at nothing to ensure this ugly trend is arrested,” the board’s spokesman, Dr Fabian Benjamin, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos.

Benjamin said that some cyber café operators and other unpatriotic Nigerians used the opportunity of the conduct of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to defraud innocent citizens.

He mentioned an instance example of an operator of a cyber cafe in Lagos, who allegedly impersonated a JAMB official to defraud desperate candidates.

“This person in question went about collecting from N3,000 to N3,500 from each of about 70 candidates to generate remita code, change their ages, courses and institutions.

“All these were done without the consent of JAMB.

“Our attention was drawn to this wicked act and we immediately called for his arrest.

“He has been charged to court,’’ the spokesman told NAN.

Benjamin advised the general public to get correct information on JAMB from its offices nationwide to avoid falling prey to fraudsters.

He said that the board would not be held responsible for candidates and other stakeholders who patronised touts.
