Iwobi, Iheanacho, Rashford make 40-man nominee list for 2016 Golden Boy Award


Two Super Eagles players, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi, have been named among 40 nominees, for the 2016 Golden Boy Award.

Others on the list include Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli, Bayern Munich duo of Kingsley Coman and Renato Sanches and Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele.

All nominees must be under the age of 21, player in the top tier in an European league and can only be included if they have never won it before.

The Golden Boy prize was established by Tuttosport in 2003 and the winner will be decided by journalists from 30 European newspapers.

Anthony Martial won the award last year . Previous winners include Raheem Sterling (2014), Paul Pogba (2013), Mario Balotelli (2010) and Lionel Messi (2005).
