Manchester City have hailed winger, Riyad Mahrez, after Algeria progress to the semi-final stage of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
Algeria on Thursday dumped Ivory Coast out from the competition.
Sofiane Feghouli had given Algeria a 1-0 lead in the first half before Jonathan Kodjia equalised for Ivory Coast in the second half as the match eventually ended 1-1 after 120 minutes.
However, the Desert Foxes defeated the West Africans 4-3 on penalties to qualify for the semi-finals, where they will take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday.
Mahrez is currently plying his trade with the Premier League champions.
Reacting, Manchester City praised Mahrez for this performance against Ivory Coast.
Man City, via their Verified twitter page wrote: “@Mahrez22’s Algeria head through to the #AFCON2019 Semi-Finals after beating Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 on penalties!
“Mahrez featured for just under 90 minutes during normal time of the clash. Well done!”
