An indigene of Itsekiri ethnic nationality simply identified as Timi on Christmas eve hung himself to death in his friends compound at
No.1 Chief Odeli Ofoluwafor Street, off London Opi Street in Warri, Delta State, DAILY POST is reporting.
It was gathered that the deceased was in the place to visit his friend at about 10am on Christmas eve. The lifeless body of the deceased was later seen dangling in an uncompleted building behind the premises moments later by neighbours.
As at the time DAILY POST visited, the entrance gate to the compound was locked due to an alleged instruction of the Police from “B” Division in Warri.
A source who spoke to DAILY POST on condition of anonymity while
peeping from the compound’s gate with so much apprehension this morning said, “Timi do come to visit one his friends who comes here occasionally. I don’t know the name of the friend. We only saw the
body of Timi dangling in a rope that day at about 10am and we called the Police from “B” Division who came to carry the dead body to the Central Hospital Mortuary in Warri. Police say we should not allow anybody to come inside the compound. That was the instruction.”
Contacted, the Divisional Police Officer of “B” Division, CSP Anieteh Eyoh declined comments on the matter as he referred our Correspondent to the Delta State Command.
The Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka lamented saying, “The entrance gate could be under lock and key to prevent people from tampering with the evidence and for homicide investigation to take place. However, give me one hour to get beck to you for more information.”
