*Protesting ITF workers
Workers at the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), in Jos, Plateau State on Monday blocked the gate of the three offices of the Fund building.
They premised their action on alleged financial infractions by the management, with a call on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Director-General, Mrs. Juliet Chukka-Onaeko.
Daily Trust reports that the workers also commenced a three-day warning strike over non-implementation of various demands ranging from welfare matters, to accountability in the management of overhead cost by Chukka-Onaeko.
The staff as early as 8:30am, chanted anti-Onaeko slogans, accusing her of reducing ITF into “a private business”.
They protested under the auspices of Senior Staff Association of Communications, Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations and Civil Service, as well as other unions in the ITF.
The police, it was learnt, took strategic spots at the gates of the three offices.
That, however, did not stop the surging workers who forcefully sealed off the gates.
Daily Trust quoted Kayode Alakija, President of the Senior Staff Association of Communications, as saying that workers decided on the option to seal off the offices and proceed on a warning strike because they had exhausted all avenues of negotiation with Juliet Chukka-Onaeko-led management.
