President of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick believes his quest to occupy a position in the Confederation of African Football, CAF, Executive Committee board will be an advantage to football in Nigeria.

The NFF president is looking to unseat president of the Benin Republic Football Federation, Anjorin Moucharafou when the election holds on the 16th of March in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Pinnick told reporters that the focus of the NFF is not just to qualify for the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia but to make a valuable impact at the Mundial.

He said, “Like I initially opine, our focus is qualifying for the World Cup, and if eventually I get elected into CAF, then it will only be a bonus for Nigerian Football.

“At the moment, our total focus is not only qualifying Nigeria for the World Cup but also make a prominent presence and statement in Russia.

“Every morning my prayer is for God to dismantle any roadblock to Russia, keep our players and officials in sound health. This is a project that is extremely important to every member of the NFF.”
