It’s political mischief for APGA to abandon its presidential candidate for Buhari – PDP

The chairman of Atiku/Obi presidential campaign council in Anambra, Mr Oseloka Obaze has said that the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA’s tacit support for President Muhammadu Buhari was out of mischief.

Obaze who spoke to journalists in Anambra on Wednesday said there was no way APGA would field a presidential candidate and abandon her for the candidate of the APC, President Muhammadu Buhari, if not for mischief.

“That is subserviency, but I do not belong to that political party, so not willing to judge them,” Obaze said.

Obaze who was reacting to the endorsement of his presidential candidate by the apex socio-cultural organisation of the south-east, Ohanaeze Ndigbo described it as bold and courageous.

“It is now 40 years since we had Dr Alex Ekwueme as vice president, and now that Ndigbo has another opportunity in Peter Obi, they should not miss it.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo seized the opportunity to do the right thing, and I thing it is bold and courageous. Whoever amongst the Igbos that seeks to repudiate Obi should be bold enough to put their names down on paper for Igbos to know them.

“Igbos must vote for the party that is favourable to them, the one that has promised equality, the one that will guarantee restructure, and give us equal number of local governments and states with other regions.”

Speaking on the endorsement of Atiku on a day that President Buhari was in the south-east to honour a famed son of Igbo land, Obaze said the endorsement was not geared at diminishing the president or Nnamdi Azikiwe.

“That was not an attempt to denigrate Zik or sabotage the president. Remember the Imeobi meeting had been earlier fixed, and the time was also adjusted to suit those who would be at the president’s rally.

“Zik is father of the nation, and dragging him into politics is unfair. Ohanaeze Ndigbo spoke for the entire Igbo race, so it is wrong for any governor to want Ohanaeze to be at their beck and call, simply because they pay stipends for the running of Ohanaeze.”
