It’s official: Europa League winners to get Champions League spot from 2015

UEFA has confirmed that from 2015, the winners of the Europa League, will be rewarded with a place in the Champions League the following season.
The step has been taken by European football governing body, as part of new measures to make the second tier competition more attractive to clubs that participate in it.
“We must do something to improve the Europa League and one way is to have a sporting incentive for the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League,” Uefa General Secretary Gianni Infantino said.
“The new cycle will begin in 2015.”
The current format of the Europa League started in the 2009/2010 season and Atletico Madrid, Porto, again Atletico and Chelsea, have won the competition ever since.
