It’s a case of mistaken identity – Ex-Reps member, Makinde dispels death rumour


The immediate past representative of Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Rotimi Makinde, has debunked reports of his death.

In a statement personally signed by him, Makinde, who was the deputy chairman of the house committee on human rights, stated that he has been around family members, political associates and friends celebrating the festive season.

The ex-federal parliamentarian apparently mistaken for the minority leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Oladejo Makinde, who died on Sunday afternoon after a brief illness, noted that he had been receiving phone calls from well-wishers within and outside Nigeria.

“I want to use this medium to tell Nigerians that I am hale and hearty. I am presently spending time with my family for the festive season. I expressed my appreciation to everyone who has shown serious concern, just to let them know that I dey kampe,” he said.

“This is to also commiserate with the family of the late Makinde, who was my kinsman, that the Lord will give them the fortitude to bear the loss.

“He was one of the pillar’s of the state assembly and sadly, death took him away when his meaningful contribution to the development of our state is needed. We ‘ll surely miss him and his valuable influence,” the statement stated.
