Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has lambasted those seeking to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari even while he is alive.
Shettima spoke at an award ceremony organised by Borno State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.
The award recognised newspapers and organisations that have complemented government’s efforts in reconstruction and rehabilitation and resettlement of those affected by Boko Haram insurgency.
Shettima said: “Power belongs to God. Sadly, some people still don’t understand that God elevates whoever he pleases. It is important we always have this in mind.
“If you think you are healthy and go about ridiculing others, you may die before the individual that is ill.
“I don’t get it; how will anybody be talking about succeeding President Buhari at this moment?
“Imagine that some are already plotting how to take over his position even though the president is alive. It is madness!
“Yes, he is ill, but the truth is that his health has significantly improved and Insha Allah he will come back in good health.
“There is no one on earth that is immune to sickness but making a big deal out of the condition of others is unfortunate; it is crazy”.
