Issa Hayatou has been re-elected as the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), for an unprecedented seventh time.
The 66-year-old Cameroonian, who received a standing ovation after his victory, was the only candidate on the list, after the election commission disqualified ex-president of the Cote d’Ivoire Football Federation, Jacques Anouma.
Hayatou, has however vowed to step down at the end of the new four-year tenure.
The next CAF congress will be conducted in Brazil, before the 2014 World Cup, but there will be no elections till 2015.
