Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is by every account a man of God, and he will go to whatever lengths he can to lead his congregation and foster their spiritual growth. This would even include going on important trips to not only enrich them, but to enrich himself and continue to mold him into the man he needs to be to help their spiritual walk. Brother Chris Oyakhilome has recently finished up his trip to Israel, and he knows that he had some incredibly profound moments and that he will have an immense amount of things to share with his congregation. His only regret? The fact that he couldn’t take each and every one of his congregation with him to personally experience it from an extremely personal – and tangible – point of view.
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s unforgettable trip consisted of three different important parts. First of all, he had the incredible privilege to visit the Mount Nebo site, which tradition has it was the place where Moses went to his final resting place and also the area where God allowed him to see the splendor of Canaan, which was the final home for all of his brethren. Moses did his duty and finished his task, but unfortunately, so the story goes, he was not allowed to go into the promised land. However, just the very visit to Mount Nebo reminds believers and theologians such as Pastor Chris Oyakhilome alike just how immensely this man was used of God. For Pastor Oyakhilome realizes intently that God still uses ordinary men and women even today to accomplish His good will and His good purpose.
The visit to Mount Nebo was part of an incredible 8-day journey for Pastor Chris Oyakhilome throughout Israel. He was able to embark on this trip primarily because of the funding from the Believers’ One World Incorporation, and he knows this excellent organization is also called Christ Assembly. As the leader of this group, one of the things he has always desired to impress upon them was this: they must seek to live out their faith and emulate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as much as possible. Thus, one of the things that Christ emphasized throughout his teaching was that the best way to become closer to God would be through humbling yourself and helping others in need, either materially, spiritually, or a little bit of both. This is one of the primary reasons why Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has planned this pilgrimage all along: he knew that believers would be afforded to opportunity to reconnect with the Lord simply through this peaceful sojourn through the Holy Land.
Although not everyone was able to take part in this remarkable journey in the way that Pastor Chris Oyakhilome would like, he knows that he will serve as a living testimony to the remarkable area that is the Holy Land. He knows that through his eyes – and the eyes of the other visitors – they will be living, breathing, loving witnesses that are living proof of the power of the Gospel to change lives.
For one thing, Pastor Chris realizes this will be demonstrated through the compassion that many have for each other. One major example of this would be when he delivered his prayer not only for Israel but also for the country of Jordan as well. He and his congregation know that the only way God will continue to place his hand upon the Middle East is through the prayers from believers such as himself and the rest of his congregation.
