Chris Isiguzo of Thisday Newspapers has emerged as the President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.
Isiguzo defeated the incumbent President, Waheed Odusile at the NUJ election which took place during the union’s Triennial Delegates Conference held in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
At the keenly contested election where over 800 delegates converged to elect their preferred executives that will pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years, Isiguzo polled 346 votes to beat his closest rival, the incumbent president Waheed Odusile with 329 votes.
According to the result as announced by the returning officer, Benson Upah, Dele Atunbi of the Nigeria Television Authority came third with 101 votes,
Abiodun Olalere 56 votes, Seiyefa Uzaka, a Director with the Bayelsa State Ministry of Information, 30 votes while Jacob Edi scored 16 votes, and Otunba Mike Aladenika 8 votes.
