Isco explains why he named his dog Messi

Real Madrid-bound Isco, has offered an explanation as to why he named his dog after Lionel Messi.

The former Malaga midfielder, says he is a keen admirer of his new club’s arch-rivals Barcelona and their star player. He also went on to tag the Argentine as the best player in the world – a declaration that might not sit well with Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I named my dog ‘Messi’ because Messi is the best in the world, and so is my dog,” explained Isco when he was asked about his labrador’s name.

The 21-year-old, who has previously described himself as an anti-Madridista, because of the club’s arrogant attitude, also named Blaugrana legend Ronaldinho as one of his inspirations.
