The legislative council of Irepo Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Monday rescinded its decision to suspend the chairman of the local government, Alhaji Asifu Adediran-Sulaiman and his deputy, Mrs. Victoria Ojedele.
DAILY POST recalls that Adediran-Sulaiman was suspended by the councillors over alleged anti-party activities.
But, the councillors had made a u-turn by rescinding their decision, though the state House of Assembly had earlier faulted their decision.
The councillors in a letter obtained by DAILY POST Monday evening, said that they were withdrawing the indefinite suspension of the council boss and his deputy.
The councillors in the letter, which was sent to Oyo State House of Assembly committee on Local Government Affairs, through the Speaker, wrote, “We, the members of Irepo Local Government Council hereby write to withdraw the indefinite suspension placed on the Chairman and the vice chairman of our local government.
“We are no more interested in the suspension earlier placed on the chairman and the vice chairman because of the intervention of eminent community leaders, especially the Council of Chiefs as well as the Iba of Kisi.
“Furthermore, the chairman and his vice have promised to administer governance according to the rule of law as well as a pledge to be of good behaviour and character.
“In view of the foregoing, we are applying for the withdrawal of the indefinite suspension placed on them and we are very optimistic that this humble application would be given favourable consideration.”
