IPOB: How FG, governors saved Nigeria from another Biafra war – Groups

The Frustrated Nigerians Movement, FNM, a coalition comprising OurMumuDonDo, Concerned Nigerians and Campaign For Democracy, has commended the Nigerian government and Southeast governors for the manner they are handling the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

It noted that recent actions and pronouncements by authorities saved the coutry from another Nigeria - Biafra civil war.

This is contained in a joint statement on Friday by Charles Oputa, Deji Adeyanju and Bako Abdul Usman.

They said calls for secession by agitating groups posed a threat to the continued unity of the country.

The coalition, however, said they were satisfied with the current situation in Southeast.

“The maturity and calmness displayed by the Governors in the face of the Federal Government’s heavy handed approach and the provocative disposition of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has averted further confrontations which were likely to be bloody and even more likely to stoke ethnic and religious tensions around the country.

“We call on the Governors of the South Eastern States, as well as all Governors of all States in the country, to continue to do more to preserve and foster national unity as the as the safety and security of all Nigerians nationwide,” it noted.
