IPAC Secretary, others sacked for allegedly misleading governor

The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has sacked its secretary in Abia State, Mr. Austin Anyaegbu.

The council consequently appointed Mr. Joseph Nwulu, as Acting Secretary of IPAC in the state.

IPAC is the umbrella body of all registered political parties in Nigeria with branches in the thirty-six states of the federation.

Addressing reporters at a press conference in Umuahia, the state capital, on Monday, the state acting publicity secretary of the council, Uzo Ogbonna, flanked by executive members of IPAC, explained that the removal of Anyaegbu, was based on the report of the disciplinary committee set up to investigate him over an alleged fraudulent activities.

He said that the disciplinary committee report indicted Anyaegbu for allegedly misleading the Executive Governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and fraudulently presenting one Mr. Nnanna Ukaegbu, a non IPAC member, to the governor as newly elected IPAC chairman Abia State chapter in place of Reverend Augustine Ehiemere the actual chairman.

A copy of the report made available to newsmen, also indicted Anyaegbu, for allegedly embarking on “unauthorized visitations to notable politicians and political office aspirants and collection of sums of money in the name of IPAC”.

The report further indicated that Anyaegbu was removed alongside with Mrs. Julie Nwoko(former Assistant Secretary), Mr. Melvin Nwogu(former publicity secretary), Mr. Ikechukwu Nwankwere(former legal Adviser) and Chief Chima Uchegbu Peter(Former Treasurer) over similar offence.

It urged, “Politicians and the general public to be wary of the antics of these impostors and route all interactions with IPAC Abia state through the Reverend Augustine Ehiemere led executive, which is the only legitimate IPAC body in Abia.”
