Intervene in crisis rocking our party in Enugu – APC group writes Presidency

Writer: AdminAdmin

A group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Enugu State under the aegis of Concerned Enugu APC Stakeholders has called on the presidency to intervene in the crisis rocking the party in the State.

In recent times, the APC in Enugu has been embroiled in series of allegations and counter-allegations of corruptions, high-handedness, and anti-party activities, which led to the suspension of key stakeholders of the party.

This prompted the letter written to the presidency, signed by the group’s convener, Hon. Ejike Njeze.

According to Njeze, the members of the group were loyal APC members who desired to see the Party in the state rid of corrupt leadership and PDP moles who parade themselves with impunity.

A copy of the letter obtained by DAILY POST reads in part: “We wish to bring to your attention the disturbing background to the leadership crisis the APC is facing in Enugu State.

“We are loyal Party members who want the party to win elections and our resolve is to purge Enugu APC of compromised leadership and the PDP moles within the party.

“As loyal party members we seek your intervention because the current trend of factionalization in the state is harmful and will have negative consequences on any electoral progress we intend to make in 2019.

“Most importantly, your intervention will avert an impending mayhem and possible bloodshed as those competing factions battle to hold of the secretariat even as the outstanding issues remain unresolved.

“We respectfully implore you to come to our aid as the current crisis is an avoidable distraction. Although we insist that purging the party of a corrupt leadership is a step in the right direction.

“It is our intention to stay calm and focused and continue the hard work of building our great Party in the state and positioning it to take over government at all levels in the state in 2019.”

However, in a reaction, a chieftain of the APC in the State, Mr. Osita Okechukwu urged any aggrieved party member to channel complaints through the proper mechanism.

Okechukwu, who is the Director-General Voice of Nigeria, said the party’s constitution provided mechanism for settling internal disputes‎.

He told DAILY POST that “Mr. President has a lot issues ranging from anti-insurgency war, anti-corruption war, repositioning of the economy among others to contend with.

“So, he should not be belaboured with whatever cr‎isis in the Enugu State APC. Any person who is aggrieved should follow the party’s constitution.”

“Neither President Buhari I know nor Professor Yemi Osinbajo(SAN), our dear Acting President would waste time with petty intra-party squabble.”
