Inter Milan vs Juventus: What Sarri said about De ligt after 2-1 win

Juventus manager, Maurizio Sarri, has hailed defended, Matthijs de Ligt following his performance in his side’s Serie A 2-1 win over Inter Milan on Sunday.

Sarri described De Ligt as a strong player and also disclosed that the 20-year-old Netherlands international was not expected to play in big games so early in his career at the club.

A first-half goal from Paulo Dybala and a late strike from Gonzalo Higuain gave Juventus all three points against Antonio Conte’s men.

However, Lautaro Martinez did score for the host at the San Siro Stadium.

“Matthijs is a strong guy,” Sarri was quoted by Calciomercato as telling reporters after the match.

“He is adapting to our way of defending. It is normal that he has some games with a few more difficulties.

“He is experiencing a new kind of football. To be honest, if Chiellini was fit, he wouldn’t have started these games so early in his career here.”

De Ligt became the most expensive defender in the Serie A history when he joined Juventus in the summer transfer window from Ajax for a reported fee of €75 million.
