Inter agency rivalry, a major challenge in fight against human traficking – DG NAPTIP

Director General of National Agency for Prohibition and Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Mrs Julie Okah-Donli has regretted challenges of inter agency rivalry among the sister security agencies in fight against human traficking.

Speaking when Senator Shehu Sani paid a courtesy call on the agency, she explained that in the fight against human trafficking, they have experienced competition rather than collaboration.

She said the challenge had affected operations of NAPTIP negatively.

“Inter agency rivalry among the security sister agencies was a major challenge to our operations”

“Our sister security agencies have engaged in rivalry and this has hampered our operations. The situation was such that we could not discharge our responsibilities optimally”, she said.

Speaking earlier, Senator Shehu Sani (APC), Kaduna Central Senatorial district called on relevant institutions to collaborate with NAPTIP in order to curb human traficking.

The lawmaker said increased funding, support and creativity by National and international institutions were those things needed to mainstream NAPTIP ideals, adding that trafficking in persons was on the rise now.

“I want to call for increased support for NAPTIP, National and international organizations must think of creative ways to mainstream activities of NAPTIP”, Sani said.

“All relevant National institutions must close ranks with NAPTIP, otherwise, the war against trafficking in persons will never attain its ultimate goals”, Sani insisted.
