Governor Kashim Shettima
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has said that his government was determined to provide health care delivery across the 27 local government areas through construction, rehabilitation and renovation of General Hospitals, Clinic and primary health care.
Governor Shettima disclosed this when he visited a newly renovated Hospital, Dikwa General Hospital to assess the facilities provided on Tuesday.
Shettima who was conducted round by the principal, Medical Officer (PMO) of the Hospital Dr. Haruna Idrisa Timta, said he was determined to provide conducive environment and facilities to all hospitals across the state.
He said as a responsible and responsive government, they were determined to provide modern facilities and affordable drugs to meet the health care services of the people, stressing that the ceiling of the hospital should be removed and be replaced with plastic of Paris ceiling (POP).
Briefing the Governor earlier the P.M.O of the hospital Dr. Haruna Idrisa Timta said the hospital attend to 20-25 patients daily but their major problems included delivery bed, Ambulance, Borehole, staff Quarters as well as scanning machines and incubator for pre-mature babies, among others.
Gov. Kashim Shettima before leaving Dikwa for Marte for similar mission paid a courtesy call on the Shehu of Dikwa Alh. Mohammedu Ibn Masta II as a mark of honour to traditional institution.
Receiving the Governor, the Royal Father expressed gratitude to him for approving the completion of his palace, supply of furnitures to the palace and the renovation of Dikwa General Hospital among others.
The Shehu similarly commended the Governor for the tremendous achievements recorded in all sectors in just less than two years of his administration, stressing that the people of his domain appreciates the Governor’s giant stride in the provision of basic amenities to the people of the State.
Responding, Governor Kashim Shettima thanked the Royal Father for acknowledging the performance of his administration.
He said despite the trying moment his administration was passing through, no stone would be left unturned in the provision of social amenities to the people.
The Governor lamented that considering the long history of the Emirate, there is nothing to write home about in terms of modern building and other infrastructures, emphasizing that shelter remains one of the cardinal objectives of his administration.
He noted that it is the responsibility of elected leaders to meet the yearnings and aspirations of his people. Assuring the people of creating job opportunities for the unemployed youths, he emphasized on the need for fervent prayers so that peace can be restored in the state.
