The Arewa Consultative Youth Forum, AYCF, has counseled the Federal Government on how to resolve the issue of insecurity across the country, with particular reference to the North.

Speaking with DAILY POST, AYCF President General, Yerima Shettima called on the Federal Government to “fire” all the Service Chiefs, following the high rate of insecurity recorded in the North and other parts of the country.

In the last few months the North and the country in general, had recorded a high rate in the activities of criminals, kidnapping and banditry, with the latest being in Zamfara and Kaduna States, respectively.

However, AYCF President General said the issue of insecurity can be curbed when the government appoints new officers with fresh ideas as Service Chiefs.

Shettima maintained that the current Service Chiefs have nothing to offer Nigeria, hence should be shown the door.

According to Shettima: “Let me tell you, nothing is impossible but the question is does the government has the political will to resolve the issue? If they have the political will what does it takes to fire the Service Chiefs for this show of shame.

“Government should fire them and then come up with fresh ideas and officers who can do better but when you continue to carry the burden of those who have nothing to offer then you don’t expect to get anything other than what was obtained in the past.

“This government should have the political will to do that, these security Chiefs are not just good enough in the interest of the collective interest of Nigerians.”
