Former Head of States, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), has expressed optimism that Nigeria will soon overcome its many problems.

Addressing journalists in Makurdi, Benue State capital, Saturday, after a courtesy call on the state Governor, Dr. Gabriel Suswam (MON), the retired Army General affirmed that the security challenges confronting Nigeria would not split it.

He said, “This is not the first time I am saying this, all the secession threats here and there with the security challenges are mere noise because we intermingle. Wherever you go, you see Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo Kanuri people and others; so there is nothing that can break up this country, because God has brought us together.”

While calling on Nigerians not to leave the security issues to government alone, Abubakar added that “government alone cannot do this, every citizen must join hands with government to tackle the problem of insecurity.”

He urged Nigerian youth to work towards building astrong, self-reliance and united nation, adding that the future of the country lies in the hands of its exceptional youth.

The former Head of States while lauding Governor Suswam for transforming the food basket state, declared that the Suswam-Lawani administration has brought about rapid development to the state.
